🎯 Local play, sport and family stays
Great Ocean Road Mini Golf
Choose from two mini-golf courses at this Aireys Inlet venue, which also caters for birthday celebrations. General play does not require a booking. Check the website for current opening times, including daily opening during school holidays.
Aireys Inlet and District Tennis Club
Families can access coaching, social tennis and support for junior competition teams. Courts are hired through the club’s online booking system. Junior membership covers players under 18, with a parent or guardian recorded as the main contact; coaching enquiries go to coach Marvin Barker.
Fairhaven Nippers
Nearby in Fairhaven, Nippers introduces children aged 5–12 to beach-hazard awareness, surf swimming, board skills and basic first aid. Children in the youngest intake must be five by 30 September in their starting year, and registration places may be capped.
BIG4 Aireys Inlet
Families planning a local break can choose cabins, glamping, caravan sites or camping sites. On-site family facilities include a swimming pool, playground and jump pad. Children under 12 must remain supervised within the holiday park.
🌱 Early years, parents and young people
Surf Coast Shire Maternal and Child Health
Free appointments support families from birth to school age with feeding, growth, development, play and family wellbeing. The nearby Anglesea clinic operates from Anglesea Kindergarten. Shire centres are at ground level and accessible by pram and wheelchair, with hearing loops available on request.
Surf Coast First Time Parent Groups
Council-facilitated groups in Anglesea serve surrounding communities, including Aireys Inlet. Sessions cover infant play and development, sleep, parent wellbeing, home safety and first aid. Families are usually placed on the waiting list at their first Maternal and Child Health visit and invited when their baby is about one to two months old. New Surf Coast families can enquire directly.
Meli Early Years Supports
Children under six with developmental concerns and their families can access individual or group-based support across the Surf Coast without a referral. Meli also provides Sunshine Circles for parents and carers of children aged 0–6, along with playgroup and school-readiness pathways.
Surf Coast Youth
Young people aged 12–25 can find council-run information, activities and support, including youth spaces, music and arts opportunities. The mobile Youth Pod travels around the region, so confirm its current location before attending. Parent education links are also available.
❤ Family and carer support
Meli Family Support Drop-in Service
Parents and families can discuss parenting skills, family challenges, suitable services and referral options at free Surf Coast drop-in sessions. An appointment is not required, although contacting the worker before attending is recommended. Meli’s broader Family Services program has a separate pathway requiring referral through The Orange Door.
The Orange Door Barwon
This free regional service assists adults, children and young people experiencing family violence, families concerned about children’s care and wellbeing, and people seeking help to change abusive or controlling behaviour. No referral is required. Barwon support is available by phone or email, or in person in Geelong and Colac.
Carer Gateway
Unpaid carers, including parents and young carers, can explore Australian Government-funded counselling, peer groups, coaching, respite pathways, practical assistance and information. Support is available by phone, online or through a local service provider, subject to relevant eligibility requirements.
